Throughout history onyx was believed to absorb and transform negative energy. Roman soldiers wore black onyx for courage in battle, medieval clerics carried it as an amulet against evil spirits, and the Victorians used it for mourning jewellery. Signets meanwhile served as a personal seal and symbol of authority.

This vintage piece revives the centuries-old emblem of identity and authority, imbued with the protective, grounding power of black onyx. I imagine this is worn to provide strength in times of challenge!
